Key points for safe use of diesel generator set

Diesel generator sets must be operated by personnel who are familiar with the structure of the unit and master the safety procedures. New or newly overhauled diesel engine units shall be operated for 60 hours as required, and the necessary maintenance shall be made.

For new or long-term generators, before they are put into normal operation, they must undergo strict inspection, mainly to check the insulation of the winding, wiring, etc., and if necessary, make necessary treatment.

After starting, the diesel engine should gradually increase the speed. After checking and confirming that it is in good condition, it can carry out no-load operation at low speed to the rated speed. No-load operation, focusing on checking the oil pressure, there is no sound, the excitation current, three-phase voltage changes, etc., if abnormal circumstances - should immediately stop inspection. Start again after finding out the situation. If everything is normal, can be put into normal operation. Operators should closely monitor the changes in the instrument on the control panel, whether it is within the scope of the license and make corresponding adjustments.

During operation, operators should keep safe distance from live equipment and wear protective equipment. Switching operation should pay attention to the sequence, such as power outages should first disconnect the branch switch, and then disconnect the master switch, and then four pole double throw switch position. When power is transmitted, the reverse is performed. The normal shutdown should first remove some of the load, then disconnect the main switch, and finally close the diesel engine, do not allow the total switch not to break, with the diesel engine flameout and self power failure. After shutdown, make routine check on the unit, and record the operation (work diary).

In case of an electric shock, the power switch shall be quickly cut off or the power supply will be broken or separated from the power supply quickly by means of an insulating device. And then rescue, and asked the doctor to rescue the scene. In case of electrical equipment floods, should immediately cut off the power supply, and report to the local power supply, and then fire fighting.
