Cummins diesel engine is America Cummins company in 1980s products, a full range of four cylinder and six cylinder two models. Has the advantages of advanced structure, strong power, good economic performance, simple operation, convenient maintenance and overhaul interval is long, but this type of complex structure, different from other domestic models, the proper use of Cummins diesel engine, can improve the service life.

1. The right to perform early running regulations

The service life, reliability and economy of Cummins diesel engine depend to a certain extent on the initial use of diesel vehicles. Users in the purchase of new cars, must be in accordance with the provisions of the new car 1500 ~ 2500km walk through period (equivalent to 100h). Take the time not to overload and high speed (load shall not exceed the rated quality of 80%, the maximum speed of not more than 45km / h), the working time is not more than 5min maximum power, running every 10h should check a crankcase oil level. The combination of new cars is an important starting point for prolonging the service life of diesel engines, and the maintenance and maintenance of new cars should be carried out after the closing period.

2. Check the PT fuel supply system

Cummins diesel engine adopts the PT fuel supply system. The basic principle is that the circulation oil supply is controlled according to the pressure of the fuel pump output and the oil injection time of the injector to the amount of oil input, so as to meet the needs of the diesel engine in different working conditions. Since the PT fuel supply system is not suitable for a hand pump, it is necessary to check the adequacy of the diesel fuel in the diesel tank. After the diesel has been sucked out, restart the diesel engine for a longer time, which is unfavorable to the service life of the starter. Secondly, in order to ensure the PT fuel supply system patency, reduce early wear of the PT fuel pump and fuel injector, the requirements for diesel must be clean, add after sufficient precipitation, filtration and removal of impurities. When refueling, should pay attention to keep clean, do not let dust and moisture mixed.

3. Not long time idling

Long time idle will reduce the atomization quality, accelerate the early wear of cylinder. Because the quality of atomization is mainly related to the injection pressure, the injector bore diameter and the camshaft speed. The fuel atomization quality depends on the injection pressure and the camshaft speed because the injector bore is constant. The slower the camshaft speed, the longer the injection pressure increases, the lower the quality of fuel atomization, and the speed of the camshaft changes with the diesel engine speed. Long idle speed can cause the combustion temperature of diesel engine to be too low and combustion is incomplete, which may cause carbon deposition to block injector nozzle, piston ring or jam the valve. In addition, if the engine coolant temperature too low, some unburned diesel will scour the cylinder wall of the oil film, dilution of oil, so that the engine all moving parts are not very good lubrication, causing premature wear parts.

4. The correct start and stop

Cummins diesel engine at the start of the process, in order to protect the turbocharger, the oil pressure gauge did not show do not increase the throttle idle oil pressure, engine speed can not be higher than 1000r / min. Start the engine, especially in the winter should be idle for 3 ~ 5min, allowed to gradually accelerate the standby oil pressure reaches 0.25MPa; until the water temperature higher than 75 DEG C, the temperature higher than 80 DEG C, the oil pressure is higher than 0.25MPa, may enter the full load operation, otherwise it is easy to make the turbocharger floating bearing, seal ring due to missing oil and premature failure.

The diesel engine must be idle running 3 to 5min before flameout, and then stop when the turbocharger speed decreases. 5. Do not work for a long time at low temperature or high temperature

Cummins diesel engine oil to maintain normal temperature at work: one is to not make the friction parts especially the crankshaft bearing temperature is too high, so the parts strength decreased, increased wear; two is the oil pump has a larger oil pump, to ensure that the friction surface to obtain reliable cooling and lubrication. Because there are a lot of relationship between pump oil pump and the oil temperature, the temperature is too high or too low, can reduce the amount of oil pump, only if the temperature is normal (about 85 degrees Celsius) pump oil is the largest, the oil viscosity is appropriate, not only has good liquidity, and can reduce the amount of reflux pump; three the oil is to maintain the normal temperature, can reduce oil oxidation under high temperature and speed, so as to prolong the service life of the oil.
